Abstract
The hypoglycemic effects of Irvingia grandifolia is documented. While medicinal plant may have recognizable therapeutic effect, it may also have few toxic side-effects. The use of Irvingia grandifolia has been found to be effective in the management of diabetes mellitus but the effect of this herb on plasma urea, creatinine concentrations and white blood cell count has not been studied so far. The effect was investigated and found out that there is no damaging effect of the herb on plasma creatinine concentration based on student distribution (t-test) on the treated animals. Also, there is no significant effect of the herb extract on plasma urea concentration, white blood cell count (total and differential) also found from student distribution (t-test) after comparing treated animals with control animals.
